Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine believes that no one in Maine should go hungry – and so do we.
Did you know:
More than 55,000 children in Maine are living with food insecurity, meaning they do not always know where their next meal will come from, or if it will be enough. That means 1 out of every 5 Maine children struggles with hunger, which is the highest child hunger rate in New England.
During the school year, more than 80,000 Maine children participate in the free and reduced-price lunch program to ensure they get the nutrition that they need to thrive in school. Less than 25% of those children receive meals during the summer months, largely due to the lack of local meal programs. Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine helps combat this problem through its BackPack Program and through its Summer Food Service Programs.
By supporting Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine, you are not only helping to end food insecurity in Maine, but you are also helping Maine’s farmers, fishers, and dairy producers:
Mainers feeding Mainers: Good Shepherd Food Bank launched Mainers Feeding Mainers by forming partnerships with the people who work the land and the sea to provide food for Mainers facing hunger. The goal is to get fresh and nutritionally balanced Maine-harvested food to Maine families in need.
Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine’s reach is the entire State of Maine:
Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine’s Food Mobile is a “pantry on wheels” that delivers high-quality, nutritious food to communities across Maine. Distributions are year-round and conducted outdoors.
